Expert: Russia may harvest 108.8 mln tns of grain in 2016
GELENDZHIK, Jun 8 (PRIME) -- Russian farmers may harvest a bumper crop of 108.8 million tonnes of grain this year, including 64.5 million tonnes of wheat, Dmitry Rylko, general director of the Institute for Agricultural Market Studies, said Wednesday at an International Grain Round conference.
“We are very optimistic and we are waiting for the next wheat record of 64.5 million tonnes of wheat,” he said, adding that the grain harvest may reach 108.8 million tonnes in net weight.
Russian grain exports may stand at 34.8 million tonnes in the next, which starts on July 1 and ends on June 30, 2017.
The Agriculture Ministry forecasts the harvest at 106 million tonnes and exports of 33 million tonnes of grain in the next agricultural year.
